Speed Up Web Development With Emmet For Sublime Text 3

setup-sublime-text-php

You can find tons of information on the internet to set up sublime text for development. If you like to follow any of them you can skip reading this post. If you are ready, keep going on.

Install Package Control

Sublime text is able to download and use 3rd party plugins by using something known as Package Control. I found following video very useful for this purpose.

After installing package control, now you can begin searching for useful plugins and then install them one by one as per your choice.

Open search bar by pressing Ctrl + Shift + P keys combination on keyboard for windows and Cmd + Shift + P keys combination for Mac OS.

You will see something similar to this as shown below.

Type "Install Package" (without quotes) and press enter key on keyboard, you will see lot of plugins to install.

Now, install the plugins that I mentioned below.

  • Emmet
  • SublimeLinter
  • SublimeLinter-php
  • PHP Companion
  • PHP Completions Kit
  • PHPIntel

Above mentioned plugins are must to speed up PHP development. The setup process for SublimeLinter is a bit tricky, so I share this link, so that you can follow along easily.

PHP linter tool will help you by displaying PHP errors, while you are writing your code. You can install other plugins easily. It won't be that hard.

I would specially like to mention about the Emmet plugin. It will help you to write HTML and CSS code more easily and efficiently. It will also save your time a lot. Please see this cheat sheet for valid commands list for emmet. Personally I use emmet often.

Final Words

If you find this post helpful, don't forget to share. Thank you!
